Alpha Phi Alpha Supports
The Ozell Sutton Endowment at Philander Smith 

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity donated the initial $50,000 to the inaugural Ozell Sutton [Pi Lambda '50] Endowed Scholarship at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Ark. Brother Roderick L. Smothers [Nu Psi '95], president of Philander Smith College and Brother Mark S. Tillman [Beta Phi '85], general president of Alpha Phi Alpha, made a video of the special ceremony.



The purpose of the academy is to provide a thorough, intense experience for young men who have been elected to some leadership role at the various levels of our fraternity. What makes this program unique is the student development foundation on which it is based. Several student development theories will be used as the theoretical framework within which this academy will operate. Such theories include the Student Wellness Model for holistic development, involvement theory, moral development, service learning and many more. The Wellness Model will be of particular importance because it allows us to tap the cognitive, social, spiritual, physical, and cultural dimensions of our college brothers’ development...Read More


Chapter Audits at the Regional Convention

With this fraternal year being a non-convention year, the General Office staff will be conducting chapter audits at all five regional conventions. Chapter audits are done to ensure that chapters have the following items in their possession:

  • A copy of the fraternity ritual
  • A chapter seal
  • A chapter charter (if unable to bring charter, a picture of it is acceptable)
  • A chapter constitution

If your chapter does not have the preceding list of materials, please contact the membership department to secure those items by e-mailing or by calling 800-373-3089.

Only Financial Brothers Can Vote for the 35th General President

What do I need to do in order to receive my ballot? By March 31, 2016, you need to be a financially active member in order to receive your ballot, such as a Life Member or grand tax-paying member with your membership expiring on December 31, 2016.

Your membership record must also have a valid mailing address on file where you receive your mail. Any incorrect information will prevent you from receiving your ballot in a timely fashion or you may not receive it at all. Your mailing address should be updated by March 31, 2016.

The application for the Alpha Phi Alpha General Office Internship is now officially open. The summer internship will be from June 1-August 12, 2016 at the General Office, located in Baltimore, MD.
